UPCOMING FALL TRAINING CLASSES!

PERFORMANCE PUPPY- This class is designed for puppies and their owners, who are interested in doing some sort of dog sport like agility. It will focus on all of the foundation work for agility, conformation, treibball and obedience. If you are looking to compete it is important to start your puppy early and introduce the equipment slowly so they do not become afraid of any of the obstacles. Once a dog becomes afraid of something it is hard to get them back on track. Listed below are a few things that will be covered in this class….

Hind end awareness
Ground poles
Crate games
Introduce contacts
Restrained recalls
Importance of tugging
Walking on different surfaces (agility ground work)
Long sits and downs
Mat work

PUPPY K- This class is designed for people who want their new puppy to start off on the right foot. It will focus on all of the basic manners your puppy should know to make life a little easier for both you and your puppy. Training increases the bond between dog and owner, so it is important to start training your puppy as soon as possible. Also, it is harder to train the bad habits out of an older dog than it is to train good habits in a puppy. And remember…a tired puppy is a happy puppy. Listed below are some things that will be covered in this class…

Potty training
Recalls
Sit/Down
Trick training
Wait
Crate games
Give
Name game
Clicker training
Shaping games
Loose leash walking

Puppy K begins Thursday January 19 and continues until Feb 23 @6pm
Next class March 1st to April 5

BASIC OBEDIENCE- This class is designed for adolescent dogs that have already passed puppy k or older dogs that have had some kind of foundation training. It will focus on training all of the basic behaviors but taking it to the next level and training it with distractions. This class is important for many reasons. A lot of people wonder why they spend tons of time training their dog at home or at a training center but as soon as the dog steps foot “in the real world” the dog completely shuts down and doesn’t pay any attention to them. This is because they haven’t trained anywhere else besides their home or at a training center, where there are limited distractions. A dog can only take in so much at one time. That is why they need to learn the behavior first and then add the distractions. This class will focus on slowly adding the distractions that will occur in “real life” so you can set your dog up for success.

Basic Obedience begins Monday January 30 @ 6pm

BEGINNER AGILITY- This class is basically an introduction to agility. It will introduce all of the equipment used as well as practicing sequencing. Even if you have no desire in competing in agility this is a fun activity for you and your dog to do to increase your bond and have a blast. Agility is also a great confidence booster for dogs that are unsure of themselves. Any dog can do agility and it is addicting, so be prepared to have a ball and catch the “agility bug.”

Agility begins Thursday January 19th @ 7pm
next agility February 23rd
