Juli Lacey-Black
Title: Facility Manager

Juli is currently living in Down East Maine where she has lived for the last 15 years on a private lake deep in
the woods. A wonderful place to raise children and dogs! She has been in dogs for over 30 years most of the
time as a professional handler. She started out doing obedience titles for other people and has put
obedience titles on several breeds (Goldens, Shelties, Great Danes, Labs, PBGVs, Tervs, etc) up to and
including the UD (Utility Degree).  Her former "day job" was a licensed insurance agent, but she decided on a
career change and has come to Carden as the new manager in March of 2009.
She has also done rehab work on rescue dogs and trained problem dogs as well as service dogs. As a
conformation handler she has won a group first in every group and has finished multiple dogs from each
group, campaigning several to top 10 positions in their breeds. She has bred/handled/owned the #1 PBGV
(Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen) in the country and in PBGVs has bred over 100 champions, several multiple
Best in Show winners, top ten dogs and Best in Sweeps/Best in Specialty winners. She currently raises and
shows PBGVs and Border Collies.  Juli has taught conformation classes for several years and is now
teaching handling classes for us on Tuesday nights at 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm.  She is also doing private
obedience and show handling lessons.
Juli recently celebrated her tenth wedding anniversary and is the mother of two children, Matthew and
Joshua.  Joshua looks to following in his mother’s footsteps winning at the tender age of seven years and two
months, Best of Opposite Sex in Sweeps at the PBGV National Specialty with “Bad Bad Betty”.

Arielle Jones
Title: Assistant Manager/Daycare Attendant Supervisor

Arielle moved to Maine from Massachusetts five years ago, and now lives in Old Town with her two dogs:
Stella the chocolate lab and Supai the mystery mutt. She recently received a degree in Animal Science from
the University of Maine while completing a pre-veterinary curriculum. Throughout that process, she has spent
many hours shadowing different veterinarians- learning about everything from cats to cows. In fact, Supai is
named for an Indian village in the Grand Canyon where she spent a summer working with vets, running free
spay/neuter and vaccination clinics. She found him, lost and dehydrated, while she was hiking. They really
bonded while she carried him home five miles, and he ended up flying back to Maine with her. A rough trip,
but worth it!
Arielle loves the outdoors and has a special interest in wildlife medicine. She spends her free time renovating
her house (slowly!) and teaching her dogs useless (but cute!) tricks. She has loved getting to know all the
regulars here at Carden, and is happy to be a part of the team.

Emiley Gallagher
Title: Daycare/Kennel Attendant

Emiley grew up in Caribou, Maine with her parents and older sister with close family less than a mile away.
"Dogs have always been a part of the family" she says "and they have always been my buddies". Emiley
graduated for Caribou High School in 2006 and was off to college. She attended the University of Maine in
Presque Isle for two and a half years for Criminal Justice, but found that perhaps it was not the best field for
her. After this discovery Emiley decided to shake things up and move to Bangor where she currently resides.
She now studies online to be a Veterinarian Technician.

All through out high school and into college Emiley worked on a horse ranch. She trained and broke green
horses as well as teaching riding lessons. Whether trail riding or barrel racing she kept herself busy. The
Dead Water Brook Farms moved to Arizona in 2007 leaving Emiley bored and wanting to work with animals.
It's taken her two years but she has finely found a job that she loves.

She also has a dog of her own. Baylee Katherine is a three year old, 73 lb Dudley Lab. Baylee loves to play
fetch and sleep on the couch.

Logan Nelson
Title: Kennel Attendant/Daycare Attendant

Logan grew up in Connecticut, before moving to attend the University of Maine. He graduated with a degree
in Wildlife Ecology, and took on various field jobs- mostly involving amphibian research.
Logan’s first pet, the lab mutt Echo, was adopted from a rescue organization in Connecticut. Soon after, he
adopted another mix- Digby- from the Bangor Humane Society. Even though Echo’s Lyme disease often
limits his activity, he and Digby are great friends who enjoy romping in the outdoors. The pet trio was
rounded off when Logan took in an orphaned kitten- the perpetually displeased ‘Battle’.
Currently residing in Bangor, Logan spends his free time doing various outdoor activities. In addition, he and
his roommate foster litters of kittens for the Bangor Humane Society. He has been with Carden since
February, and considers himself lucky to get paid to spend time with animals.
